Plant Engineer

The Plant Engineer is responsible for the execution and oversight of environmental management programs and projects to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and assure early detection and potential resolution of environmental liabilities. The person in this position will supply technical expertise to managers and employers in the development of policies, programs and procedures for the monitoring and controlling of chemical, physical and biological hazards. The person will work with team members to identify hazards and solve problems, including evaluation and design of engineering controls, and implementation of exposure reduction solutions. In this context, the person will design, collect and interpret field measurements using accepted principles. The individual will also execute and support plant projects associated with engineering safety controls, environmental improvements, process improvements, infrastructure replacement, and others as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The individual will be responsible to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal Environmental regulations and corporate Environmental policy. The individual will also be responsible to continuously improve these programs to realize efficiencies. The position will also serve as a supporting role to the Safety Manager as it relates to ensuring compliance to Health and Safety regulations and corporate Health and Safety Policy. The individual will be capable of performing general technical project work including engineering design, cost estimates, proposals, bid documentation and project oversight. The individual is expected to be a proficient writer and capable of independently developing complex documentation including reports, investigations, permit applications, procedures, policies, studies, proposals, etc.  Other responsibilities include: Coordinate all environmental compliance activity at the Delta Mill and Mine. Coordinate with corporate management, plant management, plant departments, and consultants to ensure various program elements are in place and compliant. Ensure compliance with the general environmental program including Waste Management (hazardous, non-hazardous, universal), landfill permits, discharge permit, Title V air permit, NESHAPs, RICE, TRI, Emissions, Water Use Reporting, DHS CSAT, TSCA CDR, GHG, Refrigerants, drinking water, etc. Ensure compliance with RMP and PSM regulations for covered processes. Assists in the design, implementation, auditing, and improvement of environmental management system components and program elements as described in ISO 14001. Provide environmental, industrial hygiene and safety consultation to operations management in their efforts to prevent and eliminate hazards to employees, contractors, equipment and facilities. Ensure compliance with hazardous chemical and hazardous substance policies. Also improve adherence to industry best practices as it relates to chemical safety. Develop company policies and procedures for environmental practices. Support policy development for safety and health requirements. Develop and maintain environmental compliance schedules. Prepare and submit environmental permits and plans in accordance with regulatory agency requirements and independently negotiates permit conditions with the agencies. Adopt and maintain integrity of internal document management system associated with Environmental documentation, procedures, forms, and work instructions. Ensure integrity of current and historical environmental records. Define budget and scope for environmental consultants. Facilitate periodic audits and site inspections by Company, Local, State, and Federal inspectors. Lead asbestos program and oversee asbestos abatement projects including development of long range plans and cost estimates. Assist with general process engineering responsibilities including the design, installation, and start-up of new equipment. Develop and write proposals for capital projects. Support and assist teams/workgroups in their undertaking of process problem solving, design, evaluation, planning, project definition and final implementation. Supervise assigned Technical Staff. Engagement and participation in Corporate and Local EH&S programs. Cooperate with all departments in developing overall compliance programs. Support and assist management with their incident investigation process: determine root cause (s); develop corrective actions; and conduct closure verification reviews. Utilize six-sigma tools and behavior-based safety strategies to guide prevention efforts. Collect and interpret industrial ventilation measurements and dust exposure control efficacy. Develop, deliver and train on various environmental, safety and health topics. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: Stand, sit or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day Climb stairs on a regular basis Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis May reach, stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required including respiratory protection EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Required: Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering or sciences, occupational health, biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering / physics or equivalent degree At least 5 years of environmental compliance experience. Excellent computer skills - e.g. MS Word, Excel, and Power Point and email. Ability to quickly learn new software and data management systems. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Committed to safety at all times. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Self-starter with strong leadership and team building skills.   Preferred: Experienced in metals extraction, chemical processing, and/or mining industry. Experience with Process Safety Management and Risk Management Planning Lean Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent. Strong ability to create and deliver effective presentations. Ability to adapt presentation and content to audience. Demonstrated organization, project and task management skills. Ability to create accountability and to lead by example. Proven ability to grow individual and organization competency through proactive coaching and mentoring. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
